The Geely subsidiary Zeekr shows its new electric van. Like other Group models, the 009 uses the SEA platform.
With Zeekr, the Chinese carmaker Geely has founded a subsidiary brand that will exclusively build and market electric cars in the premium segment. Zeekr has already made its debut with the 001 – a crossover electric sedan. The second model is a large van called Zeekr 009.
Up to 822 km range
The Zeekr 009 is based on the well-known SEA platform (Sustainable Experience Architecture), which Geely already uses for the Zeekr 001 or the Smart #1 used and which should be usable for all Geely brands (thus also Volvo and Polestar as well as Lynk & Co, Lotus, Proton). In the Zeekr 009, either a 116 kWh or a 140 kWh Qilin battery from CATL is used, which should enable ranges of up to 702 or 822 kilometers according to the Chinese standard (CLTC). The charging time from 10 to 80 percent should be 28 minutes on the fast charger. The 009 is powered by two electric motors – one on each axle – with a total output of 400 kW and 686 Nm of torque. Enough power to accelerate the MPV from zero to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The maximum speed of the 2.8 ton Zeekr 009 is limited to 190 km/h. The aluminum chassis with electronically controlled air suspension should guarantee a lot of comfort. The Zeekr has either 19 or 20 inch wheels. ,
Luxury MPV with room for 6
The Zeekr design team led by Stefan Sielaff has created an MPV with an extremely long wheelbase and a length of well over five meters. Specifically, the 009 measures 5,209 mm and is 2,024 mm wide and 1,856 mm high. The wheelbase is 3,205 mm. The beefy front carries SUV trains. The vertical, towering grille is also characterized by vertical slats. In addition, 154 LEDs hidden in it provide various programmable lighting effects. The flanking LED headlights rely on N-shaped daytime running lights.
, The overall ensemble exudes a touch of the Rolls-Royce look. The short bonnet is followed by a gently sloping windshield and a high roofline, which together frame the boxy rear end. Incidentally, it is created as a mega die-cast component that is almost 1.40 meters long and 1.60 meters wide. The flanks show conventional doors at the front and two sliding portals at the rear. At the rear there are L-shaped LED lights that are connected to a strip of lights across the large tailgate. Chrome strips on the roof, on the aprons and across the tailgate underline the premium claim. Other highlights include a small sunroof and a panoramic glass roof over the rear passengers. Inside there are three rows of seats and space for up to six passengers. The second row of seats is equipped with two captains chairs with massage function, air conditioning, footrest and extremely generous foot space. The third row bets on a two-person bench. A multimedia system with a fold-out 15.6-inch display in the headlining provides entertainment for the rear passengers. If you don't want to shower yourself but really want to talk, you can use the on-board communication system. Voice control and artificial intelligence should recognize who wants to talk to whom. The passengers in the first row are separated by a high, wide center console. A digital cockpit behind the three-spoke steering wheel informs the driver. A huge touchscreen on the dashboard bundles almost all other operating functions.
All-round surveillance based on radar sensors and cameras, which provides data for over 30 assistance systems, ensures safety on board. The Zeekr 009 is scheduled to hit the Chinese market in early 2023. Prices have not yet been announced.
Conclusion
The Geely brand Zeekr brings with the 009 a large MPV with electric drive. The six-seater is also based on the group's own SEA platform. In this case, it has an output of 400 kW and a range of up to 822 kilometers.
