S You did a lot right back then at Jaguar, when the XF replaced the S-Type in 2008. You can already tell from the fact that the Jaguar XF hardly ever gets the idea to screw a cat hood ornament onto the bonnet of the Jaguar XF. It didn’t match the cool, technically modern XF design, which undoubtedly is partly responsible for making the business sedan a success. Built 280,000 times, around eight percent of them for the German market. It is understandable that the new Jaguar XF now looks so similar to its predecessor.

Jaguar XF relies on evolution in optics

The differences are not immediately visible, especially the slightly changed proportions make the new Jaguar XF look more elongated and coupé-like, although it is seven millimeters shorter is. But the wheelbase grew by 51 millimeters, which looks good because of the shorter overhangs and creates space. He should be just as generous in the XF as in the competition, that may be true. What is more important, however, is that the brand-typical, hollow intimacy that makes staying in a Jaguar limousine so distinctive.

The XF is made of aluminum. Based on the same architecture as the smaller XE presented a few months ago, drives and axles are largely identical, even if the Jaguar people like to say that 83 percent of the parts are new. The XE is not a bad reference either, and the XF drives in a similar way. This is mainly due to the electromechanical steering, which has already been widely and rightly praised. It is precise in the Jaguar XF, provides the required amount of feedback and simply feels good and appropriate.

Fine three-liter diesel with 300 PS

This also applies to the drive, at least if the three-liter diesel with 300 PS is installed at the front. It turns up very fine, weighs 700 Newton meters on the crankshaft and sounds sonorous and reserved, as befits a Jaguar drive. The two-liter Ingenium diesel with 180 hp that was driven for comparison did not seem quite as confident, and it lacks a bit of torque and manners. But the price is of course also an argument, the four-cylinder is available from 41,350 euros (163 hp), 20,000 less than for the V6. What about the gasoline engines? There are also, but 95 percent of allJaguar XFs sold in this country were previously diesel. Any questions?
