World record with an electric Jaguar racing boat

J aguar is one of the car manufacturers that is already involved in the electric Formula E - racing series are active. Jaguar Racing also takes care of the technology transfer from the track to the water. The racing boat manufacturer Vector is the title sponsor of the joint Jaguar Vector Racing Team.

A new racing boat with the name Jaguar is the result of a cooperation with Williams Advanced Engineering, who are responsible for the electric drive for the Formula E car Vector V20E was created. The 12-month development time has now been crowned with a record drive.

World record with 142.6 km /h

With 88.61 miles per hour, this corresponds to a speed of 142.6 km /h, the Jaguar Vector V20E is the fastest electric boat in the world. The high-speed trip took place on a lake called Coniston Water in north-west England. The previous world record had existed for ten years and was 123.5 km /h. The Jaguar Vector Racing Team outperformed it as quite clearly. The British do not want to rest on their laurels for long. Over the next 18 months, the team intends to continue making record runs with the electric racing boat.

Malcom Crease, head of Jaguar Vector Racing, does not see excess speed as an end in itself “After 12 months of hard work, this is a fantastic result for the team and our partners and a big first step to bring the performance and the diverse areas of application of drive electrification into the ship industry. ”

In the future, electric races will be outside of Formula E and racing boat records also give with the Jaguar I-Pace. At the IAA 2017, at the same time as the public premiere of the production car, there was also a study of a brand cup version of the electric SUV. The first Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy races are scheduled to take place in autumn 2018. 20 cars with exactly the same technical specification are to compete against each other in the framework program of Formula E races. At the end of May, Formula E fans were able to experience the electric racing car in action for the first time.
