E a speed of 186.269 km /h in a BMW 3 Series Coupé driving doesn't sound particularly impressive. This speed gains a very special note when the BMW only drives on two wheels - then it is a new world record for the Guinness Book of World Records.

Production BMW with special tires

It was set up by the Finnish stunt driver Vesa Kivimäki in cooperation with the tire partner Nokian and the service partner Vianor. The runway was 2 km long, the reference distance for the measurement was 100 meters and had to be traveled in both directions with a standard vehicle within an hour. Only a roll cage and various cameras were retrofitted to the BMW 3 Series from Kivimäki.

On the other hand, the tires from Nokian were not standard. In order to withstand the extreme loads of diagonal travel, the tire flanks were reinforced with aramid fibers, and a special rubber compound was used.

The old record in this discipline came from 1997 and was set by the Swede Göran Eliason set up, it reached 181.25 km /h at the time.
