VW T1 Race Taxi received a Porsche engine

N The T1 Race Taxi from Fred Bernhard tuning fans should also inspire the new VW T6. The trained coachbuilder has done quite a lot for this: In 6 years he has built a racing bus from a rusted VW T1 bus from 1962 that can compete with many sports cars. Bernhard built an air-cooled light alloy six-cylinder from a Porsche 993 along with the steering and braking system.

In order to adequately transfer the 757 Nm torque to the wheels, the six-speed gearbox was transplanted from a Porsche 996 GT3. 285/30 tires mounted on three-part 18-inch BBS racing rims establish contact with the road. Thanks to carbon elements, the T1 only weighs 1.5 tons and therefore has a power-to-weight ratio of 3.8 kg /kW.
