VW Ameo: Small sedan for India

V W presented the new Ameo small car on the eve of the Auto Expo in India . The VW Ameo is based on the old PQ25 platform that also carries the old Polo, the Audi A1 or the Skoda Fabia. In terms of design, the VW Ameo remains true to the less spectacular VW line. Because the Indian market wants sedans, an extremely cute stubby rear end with a high-lying spoiler lip was flanged to the four-door front section.

There are also many well-known VW components in the interior again. The two-tone look ensures value, otherwise the equipment list includes front airbags, cruise control, a front center armrest, an air-conditioned glove compartment, rear parking sensors and a reversing camera. The infotainment system integrates smartphones via MirrorLink, but can also use Bluetooth.

On the drive side, VW Ameo uses a 1.2-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo diesel. Both are combined with a manual 5-speed gearbox. The diesel is also optionally available with a 7-speed DSG.
