W hen the Italian company Volpe launched their eponymous electric city car Launched in 2013, it has what it takes to be the smallest car in the world.

According to the Milan-based company, the two-seater is only 2.20 meters long and exactly one meter wide. So the Volpe can be maneuvered nose first into pretty much any parking space. Thanks to the two wing doors, there are no problems when getting in and out if things get tight to the right and left. Similar to a scooter, the rear passenger sits close behind the driver and has to place his or her legs to the left and right of the driver's seat.

The electric car Volpe weighs 350 kilograms

In the lightest version, it weighs Small just 350 kilograms. Depending on the model version, it is driven by electric motors with 4 kW, 8 kW or 12 kW, which allow speeds of up to 105 km /h. The electric car is available in four equipment variants: The Globo variant is the lightest and runs with a 4 kW motor, ABS and ESP are optional, sound system with Bluetooth interface is standard, the price is 6,950 euros. In the Goal variant, the Volpe costs 7,950 euros, but instead of 70 kilometers, it also offers a range of up to 380 kilometers.

The Volpe Graffio costs from 8,950 euros and comes with an 8 kW motor, while the Volpe Guru has 12 kW output and costs from 9,950 euros. In contrast to the other three variants, the Guru uses four instead of two wheel hub motors.

Natural or liquid gas as range extender

To increase the range, the Volpe electric car is also optionally available with a range extender. Then Volpe installs a generator that runs on natural or liquefied gas and generates electricity for around 300 kilometers on one tank of fuel.

The interior has a two-tone design, with decorative strips and elements on the seat and steering wheel Cork are used. The cockpit is not designed in a noticeably futuristic way: Classic buttons for hazard lights, lights, rear fog lights and ventilation are easy to find. The display in front of the steering wheel consists of a digital screen for the battery status and a classic round instrument for displaying the speed. There are also interfaces and brackets for a smartphone and a navigation system.
