O pel fans in this country can sometimes be sorry. With the Insignia OPC, which generates 325 hp from a turbocharged 2.8-liter V6 engine, Opel clearly has a real sports sedan on offer, but what the British sister brand Vauxhall from Australia is looking for has completely different dimensions.

Vauxhall VXR8 GTS with 584 hp

Born as Holden HSV Gen-F GTS, the Australian top model can also compete on the British island as a right-hand drive under the name Vauxhall VXR8 GTS and heaves the Opel Sister in the elite 500 PS Plus Club.

The four-door sedan is fired by a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine that is also used in the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1. This provides a whopping 584 hp and a maximum torque of 739 Nm. All the power flows through a manual six-speed transmission - a six-speed automatic transmission is also available as an option - to the rear axle, where an electronically controlled differential works for traction. The chassis of the Vauxhall is also electronically controlled. An AP Racing brake system with 390 discs and six-piston calipers at the front and 372 discs and four-piston calipers on the rear axle is used for deceleration. 255/35 tires at the front and 275/35 slippers on the hindquarters turn on 20 inch rims. Do you ask about driving performance? The manufacturer still keeps this under lock and key. But the Camaro ZL1 should spurt from zero to 100 km /h in just under 4 seconds and reach a top speed of over 290 km /h.

Vauxhall VXR8 GTS from 64,300 euros

The Vauxhall is not a clumsy V8 but shines with numerous high-tech features. The package includes a head-up display, a lauch control, traction control, ABS and ESP anyway, a blind spot assistant, a parking assistant, a collision warning, a drowsiness and lane departure warning and a torque vectoring brake. The interior is enhanced by a full leather interior and electrically adjustable sports seats.

You ask about the price? In the UK, the Vauxhall VXR8 GTS will be available from £ 54,999, around € 64,300. It's a shame that Opel doesn't have it.
