US sales November: Double-digit growth for Germans

D aimler benefited from its core brand Mercedes-Benz, whose sales rose by 13.3 percent compared to the same month last year to 19,037 vehicles, according to the US sales company in Montvale. This was the highest November sales since 2007. The Stuttgart-based company has thus overcome the brief dip in growth from October. The Smart brand, on the other hand, recorded a significant slump. Only 211 units of the small car were sold in the USA in November, 67.5 percent less than in the same period of the previous year.

BMW, VW and Porsche in full growth

BMW, too, was successful Things are looking up: The core brand BMW increased by more than 30 percent compared to the previous year to 20,297 cars sold, as the company announced at its US headquarters in Woodcliff Lake. At the British subsidiary Mini, sales rose by 8.7 percent to 2,786 cars.

Europe's largest car maker Volkswagen increased its sales by a good 24 percent compared to the previous year to 20,189 vehicles, as did the VW US subsidiary in Herndon announced. The new Jetta accounted for more than half of sales, 11,153 of which were sold. This corresponds to an increase of more than 40 percent compared to the previous year. The new generation of the Touareg SUV also got off to a good start, with 837 customers, more than twice as many US buyers as in the previous year. According to VW, this means that more cars of the model have been sold in a month than since December 2007.

The Stuttgart sports car manufacturer Porsche was able to almost double its sales (plus 49 percent compared to the same month last year) and sold 2,416 Sports and off-road vehicles, as the North American sales company announced on Wednesday in Atlanta. This is the sixth month in a row that at least a double-digit percentage growth rate has been achieved. The new four-door Panamera sedan was particularly popular again, with 729 units sold, almost twice as much as in the previous year. The new generation of the Cayenne SUV is so popular with customers that there are almost delivery bottlenecks. 997 Cayenne models were sold in November.

Audi also clearly in the lead

The VW subsidiary Audi set a new record in November. With 9,365 vehicles, 37.5 percent more were sold than in the previous year, announced the Ingolstadt carmaker. According to Audi, this is the fourth record month in a row and the eighth month with record figures this year. From January to November, the automaker has 91,083 vehicles in theUSA sold, which corresponds to an increase of more than 23 percent compared to the previous year. Audi launched the new A8 on the US market in November, of which 310 models are reportedly already sold. The A3 and A3 TDI were also particularly popular.
