Ford Mustang V8 at a dumping price

The new Ford Mustang is certainly a special highlight. The American muscle car is finally officially coming to Europe after 50 years and will be available at the German Ford dealer from July. With a 2.3-liter four-cylinder and 317 hp or a five-liter V8 and 421 hp, which will make the hearts of Mustang disciples beat faster (Fahrbericht ). Ford has been taking orders for the new Mustang since January. The configurator glows ( S tory ), and advance sales are getting underway. So far, more than 2,200 customers across Europe have struck.

What makes the Mustang so special besides its charisma and tradition? Nowhere is there a V8 on such favorable terms. At least not with the German manufacturers. For a Mustang GT Fastback, Ford is calling for 40,000 euros in this country. If the customer books the premium package for an extra 2,500 euros, the Mustang V8 is also properly saddled - with a sound and navigation system, leather seats and dashboard, 19-inch aluminum and rear parking beeper. Only the American competition can keep up with the price. Chevrolet is offering its Camaro with a 6.2-liter V8 for 39,990 euros.

Cadillac forces attack

German premium cars that nominally play in the same league cost a lot more. Two examples: An Audi RS5 with 450 hp eats 79,900 euros - roughly double that - from the bank account. A BMW 650i with 450 hp even 90,700 euros. Of course, the models cannot be compared completely. But it still shows how inexpensive the V8 can be in the Mustang or Camaro.

The GM luxury brand Cadillac has its German opponents firmly in its sights. They are called BMW M3 /M4 and M5, Audi RS5 and Mercedes-AMG C63 and E63. Cadillac accelerates its attack with new editions of the ATS -V and CTS-V. And they have it all.

3.6-liter V6 biturbo, 461 hp, 603 Nm torque and a 0-100 sprint of less than four seconds: These are the key data of the ATS-V ( Sitzprobe ), which can be ordered in Germany as a limousine or coupé. At a price from 74,900 or 77,500 euros. Quick price comparison: BMW is cheaper here. An M3 with a six-speed manual switch is in the price list from 71,800 euros. An M4 from 72,500 euros. The bottom line is a difference of 3,100 and 5,000 euros respectively. But the ATS-V depends on the BMW’s in terms of performance. At least on paper.

Corvette Z06 for less than 100,000 euros

Mercedes is priced above the Cadillac ATS-V with its C63 as a sedan (from 76,100.50 euros), but it also offers more power. The C63 pushes 476 hp out of its 4.0-liter V8 biturbo, in the S version - from 84,371 euros - even 510 hp.

Sharp edges and sharp performance data: the Cadillac CTS-V winds its 6.2-liter V8 supercharger with 649 hp and 855 Nm. The power sedan, which is supposed to shoot to 100 km /h in 3.7 seconds and up to 323 km /h, will hit the German market in 2015. Price? From 98,000 euros. So below the level of the BMW M5 and Mercedes E63, which are each over 100,000 euros.

With an almost unbeatable offer, the Corvette Z06 around the corner. 6.2-liter V8 supercharger and 659 hp at 99,500 euros: The competition has to swallow first. Especially since the performance is right. The Z06 makes every drive train sweat with 881 Nm of torque and is supposed to run to 60 miles per hour - 96.56 km /h in 2.95 seconds. In a first driving report on the racetrack, the Corvette C7 Z06 was convincing.

Unfortunately, Dodge does not officially sell its Challenger SRT Hellcat. The Hemi-V8 is still available in Germany. Via Geiger Cars, who offer the 717 PS strong US-Boy for 95,000 euros on their website.

In our photo show we show you the powerful American cars and compare their prices with the German competition.
