A at the CES in Las Vegas in early 2017 turned on Toyota is all about future operating concepts and artificial intelligence. Toyota's Concept-i aimed at the latter. An assistant named Yui should look after the driver like a human and learn from him.

It is controlled by joystick

At the Tokyo Motor Show 2017, the Japanese are supplementing the Concept-i by two more i models that follow the same approach as the Concept-i. The Concept-i Ride comes as a particularly user-friendly city vehicle. The ride is only 2.50 meters long, 1.30 meters wide and 1.50 meters high. With a wheelbase of 1.80 meters, it offers space for two passengers. The drive is purely electric, the range should be 100 to 150 kilometers.

The special features of the Ride include the two wing doors, which should make access to the interior as barrier-free as possible. When the driver arrives there, an electrically transversely sliding driver's seat awaits the driver, which bundles all operating functions in the armrests. There is no steering wheel or pedals because the ride is controlled by a joystick. In the best case scenario, however, it drives completely autonomously. A folding armchair waits for the second passenger behind the driver's seat. There is space in the loading compartment for a folded wheelchair. The self-learning driver assistant sits in the large display on the dashboard and supports the driver with information and recommendations.

The ride should make mobility possible and safe for groups of people who are otherwise only limited in mobility.

Electric scooter for the last mile

The third study in the Concept-i network is the Walk - a kind of three-wheeled scooter for the last mile, which, if necessary, also drives to its destinations autonomously, but in any case pure electrically within a radius of 10 to 20 kilometers. The wheelbase of the Walk can be varied by a joint between the platform and the steering column - from 50 to 70 cm. The total width is 40 cm, the total height 1.13 meters. The height of the platform is specified as 14 cm.

Here, too, there is an intelligent assistant on board that warns of danger, provides information and adapts the chassis to the speed being driven.

Both the walk and the ride are suitable for sharing services and thus enable uncomplicated use by different people in a variety of different scenarios.
