The best cars of 2010: compact class

It was not only way ahead in terms of the registration numbers for 2009. The readers also voted it number one in the compact class in the vote for the best cars in 2010 by auto motor und sport: The V W Golf .

VW Golf again in front, Alfa Romeo 147 best import vehicle

The Wolfsburg-born driver came in first with 28.9 percent of the votes. As in the previous year, second place went to the Audi A3 (20.8 percent; 2009: 22.1 percent). The gap between the two group brothers is around eight percentage points, almost exactly at the previous year's level. The last place on the podium in auto motor und sport's big readers' poll goes to Munich: The BMW 1er is the best car of 2010 for 17.7 percent of our readers. In fourth place is the Opel Astra , which was freshly styled at the end of last year and launched on the market with new, more economical engines. Fifth place went to the Ford Focus 2.1 percent of the vote. The Toyota Prius is a great success: As it ranks seventh overall in the readers' poll as the best hybrid vehicle (1.4 percent of the votes).

In the category of the best import cars in the compact class, the Prius was even fifth. At the very top of the podium is the Alfa Romeo 147 , which 11.9 percent of readers lost their hearts to. Follow him Seat Leon (10.6 Percent; 2009: 12.2 percent) and the Volvo C30 , who can unite 9.5 percent of the vote. The compact one helpedSweden's latest facelift, however, did not result in an increase in votes, because a year earlier, 11.4 percent of readers voted for the C30. Fourth place among the best import compacts this year goes to Peugeot 308 with 7.8 percent of the vote. He can look forward to even more popularity than in 2009, when 6.1 percent voted for him.
