Tesla recall: more than 1 million vehicles affected

Tesla is recalling 1,096,762 vehicles in the US. Windows could injure the occupants when closing.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the car manufacturer Tesla have started a recall campaign for all series. 1,096,762 vehicles are currently affected.

In the affected vehicles, it could happen that the automatic window regulator does not recognize if there is an obstacle between the frame and the window. If a window closes and fails to detect an obstruction, this condition can increase the risk of a crush injury to the occupant.

These models are affected by the recall in the USA:

  • Tesla Model S from the production period 01/19/2021 to 09/16/2022
  • Tesla Model 3 from the production period 0 07/02/2017 to 09/14. 2022
  • Tesla Model X from the production period February 12, 2021 to September 16, 2022
  • Tesla Model Y from the production period November 26, 2019 to September 14, 2022
  • Tesla will give affected vehicles an Over Deploy the-Air ("OTA") firmware update to affected vehicles that improves the calibration of the vehicle's automatic window reversing system. The recall can be found at NHTSA under case number 22V-702.

    Conclusion

Tesla needs to fix over a million vehicles. In the affected vehicles, it could happen that the automatic window regulator does not recognize when there is an obstacle between the frame and the window.
