B Tesla has long given the batteries in its electric cars an eight-year guarantee. Now the Americans are adopting a different strategy. The eight-year guarantee on the battery in the S, X, 3 and Y models remains unchanged, but various mileage limits are now being added.
Tesla with mileage cap
The Model S and Model X now have eight years or 240,000 kilometers - whichever comes first. For Model 3 and Model Y with Standard Range or Standard Range Plus, eight years and a kilometer limit of 160,000 apply. For the Model 3 and Model Y in the versions with maximum range or performance, eight years or 192,000 kilometers apply. What is new for all models, however, is that Tesla guarantees a minimum capacity of 70 percent during the entire warranty period. If the value falls below that, it will be repaired or replaced.
With this new regulation, Tesla is now at the level of its competitors. You can read which manufacturers give which guarantees on their batteries here .
