Airbag recall, etc. for Corolla and Yaris

N after a report from the news magazine 'Der Spiegel', moisture could penetrate the gas generator of the driver and front passenger airbags. In the event of an accident, the airbag would 'no longer deploy properly,' said a Toyota spokeswoman. 'At Nissan,' says the Spiegel report, 'there is a risk of explosion with the airbags.' There is a risk that the metal casing of the gas generator will not work properly. There were no accidents or injuries in this context.

According to Toyota, a total of 35 model series are affected, including the Corolla and Yaris. The construction period is from March 2003 to November 2007. The defective airbags were installed at Nissen between 2004 and 2008. The owners of the vehicles will be written to via the Federal Motor Transport Authority and asked to take their cars to the workshops. 5 million Toyotas worldwide, 1.26 million of them in Europe, are involved in the recall. At Nissan there are 1.56 million vehicles.

As early as 2014, there was a mega recall with more than 21 million models in connection with defective Takata airbags. At that time there were 5 deaths.
