W he Czech carmaker announced on Wednesday (2.8.2017) that Oliver Stefani will be responsible for the design of Skoda from September 1st. The 53-year-old was most recently Head of Exterior Design at the Volkswagen brand. Stefani joined Volkswagen in 2002. Many VW series vehicles from the past ten years and numerous concept cars bear his signature. He played a decisive role in the development of the Up, Polo, Jetta, Tiguan, the current Golf and the ID show car family.
The new Skoda Head of Design studied design in Braunschweig and Pasadena (California). He also worked for three years at the Design Center Europe in Sitges (Spain).
Stefani's predecessor Jozef Kaban switched to BMW in Munich in February, where he is responsible for the design of the BMW models. The 44-year-old Kaban followed Karim Habib at Bayern. Former BMW chief designer Habib will dock with Japanese car maker Infiniti on July 1, 2017.
