E rst the exhibition with the official name 'International Automobile & Manufacturing Technology Exhibition' was held in 1985. Auto Shanghai, which takes place every two years, is now the leading trade fair for the entire Asian region and, according to the organizers, is already the third largest industry show in the world.
BMW is showing SUV - Audi the A2
In addition to the Participation by Asian companies, European and American manufacturers also use the trade fair in the Chinese metropolis for their world premieres. In addition, international automobile manufacturers and automotive suppliers meet at the trade fair to present their new products on the Chinese market. The Shanghai Auto Show will be held in the largest Chinese metropolis on the exhibition grounds of the Shanghai New International Expo Center (SNIEC). Auto Shanghai 2019 will take place from April 16 to 25.
From a German perspective, some models are among the highlights of the auto trade fair in China. Audi, for example, is giving an outlook on the upcoming A2, BMW is presenting the long version of the 3 Series and the power SUVs X3 M and X4 M. In addition, the Munich-based company is also presenting the X1 PHEV with an extended range. Volkswagen has the Roomzz study in its luggage for Shanghai. The model ran under the working title Lounge and gives an outlook on a large electric SUV for 2021 that comes close to the VW Atlas. The Wolfsburg-based company is also showing the Jetta family with the VS5 and VA3 as well as an Atlas study. The eye-catcher from a German point of view is the near-series study of the upcoming Mercedes GLB.
Karma is also planning a big premium in China. The Revero facelift can be seen, a new electric concept car and studies showing the new cooperation with Pininfarina. Lexus presents an MPV, Infiniti an electric sedan and Honda the XR-V facelift.
