M it the IBE, Seat wants an outlook on a purely electric powered vehicle for city traffic that should also appeal to sporty drivers.

The design of the Seat IBE gives an outlook on upcoming Seat models

The concept vehicle is a sporty compact coupé which, at just 3.78 meters, is a good 25 centimeters shorter than a Seat Ibiza . In return, the electrified Spaniard presents itself quite muscular with a width of 1.80 meters. The height of only 1.25 meters is intended to underline the sporty aspirations of the Seat IBE.

The design reflects elements typical of the brand, such as the arrow profile in the front. According to the Spaniards, there is already a very specific outlook on the appearance of future Seat models. The bonnet drops extremely flat towards the front. It houses the electric motor, which has a maximum output of 75 kW (102 PS) and 200 Nm. Compared to an internal combustion engine, this takes up significantly less space and enables the bonnet to slope forward sharply. The Spanish Stromer produces 50 kW (68 PS) in continuous operation. The lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of 18 kWh are located in the rear of the IBE.

Thanks to the relatively low weight of 1,000 kilograms, the study should break the 100 km /h mark from a standing start in just 9.4 seconds. The top speed is limited to 160 km /h. In the future, Seat says it will concentrate primarily on the development of a plug-in hybrid and a purely electric model.

The design of the Geneva study IBE, penned by the chief designer Luc Donckerwolke, is characterized by extremely short overhangs and the long roof line. The typical Seat beads give the study additional dynamism. The front view is dominated by the very flat engine hood and the aggressive headlights in LED technology. The side mirrors are strongly reminiscent of those specimens that the IAA study Seat Concept IBZ displayed. According to the Spanish VW group brand, the IBE carries already the design DNA of future Seat modelsin itself. The large openings in the front supply the electric drive train with the necessary cooling air. LED headlights provide the necessary perspective, the rear lights also shine with LED diodes. The wheel arches are almost completely filled with 19-inch rims. They are covered with 175 mm tires with optimized rolling resistance. At the rear, Donckerwolke took up the arrow design of the front, a diffuser should provide additional downforce.

In the interior, the 2 + 2-seater should have plenty of space for luggage and two passengers in the rear should have enough space Offer. In addition, the most modern means of communication find their way into the study.

Seat Leon Twin Drive with hybrid drive from 2014

Already at the beginning of 2009, Seat had the Seat Leon Twin Drive presented a hybrid version of the compact model. Equipped with a two-liter turbo-diesel and an electric motor, the Leon should be able to cover up to 50 kilometers in purely electric mode and go into series production in 2014.
