I n the motorsport hall 4 lovers of the Italian automobile get their money's worth. Around 50 unique items from Corrado Lopresto's private collection and various pieces from the Alfa Romeo Museum in Arese near Milan will be on display.
Alfa was already building before War beautiful cars
'The special thing about Alfa Romeo is that it is the Italian racing car manufacturer par excellence, something very exclusive', says Björn Schmidt, curator of the show. 'In the retrospective you can see what kind of brilliant cars Alfa Romeo built before the war. Cars that won world championships and of course the European touring car championships.'
According to curator Schmidt, the absolute highlight of the special show in Stuttgart is a Typo B, also known as 'P3', a design by Vittorio Jano from 1932. Another model that should not be missing in connection with Alfa is the Giulia. 'With the Giulia, Alfa invented the sporty sedan,' explains Björn Schmidt. 'The image of this car was far better than that of its competitors, such as BMW.' At Retro Classics you can admire the Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA, which won the European Touring Car Championship in 1967.
Next March, the Geneva Motor Show the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta official presented. 'The connection to tradition works,' says Björn Schmidt. 'Today there is hardly any technical difference between modern cars, so it is increasingly about the brand and the image.'
