D he new 730 cc two-cylinder diesel engine will soon be used in compact city delivery vans. The diesel engine is based on the two-stroke principle and double charging by a turbocharger and a compressor. The compact two-cylinder mobilizes between 48 and 68 hp and provides a maximum torque of 112 to 145 Nm at 1,500 rpm. The dimensions for bore and stroke are 76 millimeters and 80.5 millimeters. The maximum speed is 4,000 /min., The efficiency should be just under 50%.

New LPG and new electric motor

The French have also presented a new electric motor. The new motor has an output of 65 kW and 220 Nm of torque and its dimensions are significantly more compact. The reduction in size was achieved by integrating all add-on parts into the motor housing. In addition, the entire power electronics have been made smaller, the performance of the charging system increased and power consumption further reduced.

A three-cylinder turbo engine is about to go into series production at Renault, which has been optimized for operation with liquid gas, but also with Super petrol can be operated. Performance data was not mentioned.

Another novelty is the prototype of a mild hybrid diesel with twin turbo technology and a 48-volt starter generator between the engine and transmission, which is intended for future commercial vehicles. The test diesel engine is based on the 165 hp series four-cylinder engine with 1.6 liter displacement and twin turbo charging. The Renault developers added a 48-volt starter-generator module to the gearbox. When the vehicle decelerates, the electric motor works as a generator and can recover braking energy through so-called recuperation.
