B for routine internal examinations of third-generation vehicles involved in an accident of the RAV4, Toyota had noticed damage to the seat belts on the rear seats. The detailed analysis showed that in the course of an exceptionally strong frontal impact, the belt strap could come into contact with a metal edge of the seat frame and be damaged.

For this reason, Toyota calls 71,164 vehicles in Germany exclusively models of the third generation RAV4, Production period from November 2005 to November 2012, in the workshops. An additional protective cover is installed there on the right and left of the rear seat frame. This measure is free of charge for the customer and takes about an hour. Around 625,000 vehicles across Europe and around 2,873,000 worldwide are affected.
