As Audi confirmed to auto-motor-und-sport.de, the campaign affects 40,000 models worldwide, and around 8,000 vehicles in Germany.
The reason for the Audi recall is the paneling on the A-pillar
When the head airbags are deployed, the paneling can fall the A-pillar. This increases the risk of injury to vehicle occupants in the front seats, according to Audi. During the free, approximately half-hour workshop visit, the middle bracket on the A-pillar trim is replaced.
Affected are Audi Q5 models from the production period December 2008 to May 2009. The completed action is documented with a corresponding stamp in the service book. Audi did not provide any information on the costs of the recall campaign.
