Tesla has to recall 209,211 vehicles worldwide. The reason: failure of various vehicle systems. In Germany, 14,807 vehicles are affected.
The Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) is having the car manufacturer Tesla recall 14,807 Model S, 3, X and Y vehicles in Germany. There are 209,211 faulty vehicles worldwide. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the USA alone, 129,960 vehicles are affected by the recall published there on May 3, 2022.,
During the fast charging process or the preparation for the fast charging process, the infotainment processor ("CPU ") may not cool sufficiently to avoid higher than expected temperatures. This can cause the CPU to slow down or restart processing. Slowed or restarted processing can cause the middle screen to appear laggy or blank. A sluggish or blank center screen display may in turn result in the unavailability of the rear view camera display, driving modes (Drive, Neutral, or Reverse) and indicator lights, increasing the risk of a collision.
These models are affected by the recall in Germany:
(Model S, 3, X and Y together: worldwide: 209,211 vehicles /throughout Germany: 14,807 vehicles)
The following models are affected by the recall in the USA:
(Model S, 3, X and Y together: US: 129,960 vehicles)
On May 3, 2022, Tesla began rolling out an OTA firmware update that improves CPU temperature management and related elevated temperature communication. Now this update should also start in Germany. The KBA reference number is 011850, the manufacturer code of the recall campaign is SB-22-00-009. The NHTSA has the case number 22V-296.,
Conclusion
Tesla is recalling 209,211 vehicles of the S, 3, X and Y series worldwide and 14,807 in Germany. The reason: Insufficient cooling of the processors can lead to the failure of various vehicle systems.
