Recall: JLR is recalling 111,746 vehicles

Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 111,746 vehicles in the United States. A leak can spill fuel, which in turn can ignite.

In the USA, a recall is currently causing a bad mood among Land Rover and Range Rover owners. After customers noticed an increased smell of fuel and the yellow malfunction indicator in the instrument cluster illuminated, they noticed that the vehicle was leaking fuel. Upon investigation, technicians at a dealership found that the fuel outlet flange that is mounted in the fuel tank was cracked. The problem with spilled fuel is that it can easily ignite in the presence of an ignition source, automatically leading to an emergency fire hazard recall in the United States. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is conducting the recall under number 21V-635.

Affected are 56,191 Range Rover Sport with the 5.0 liter V8 petrol engine from the model years 2010 to 2013. There are also 55,555 Land Rover LR4 (here known as Discovery) with the 3.0 liter V6 petrol engine and the mentioned one Five-litre V8s from 2010 to 2016. The vehicles rolled off the assembly line at the Solihull (UK) plant between April 27, 2009 and August 30, 2016. Land Rover informs the affected vehicle owners and exchanges the faulty component for an improved one during the visit to the workshop. If customers have already paid for repairs as a result of this defect, Land Rover will reimburse these costs.

Similar recall known in Germany

Since June 18, 2021, there has been a recall in Germany under the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt reference number 010892 and the manufacturer code N571 due to a faulty exhaust system, which also poses an increased risk of fire. However, 8,389 Land Rover Defender and Discovery built in 2020 and 2021 are affected worldwide - but none of them in Germany.,
