Recall campaign Audi E-Tron due to brake booster

In the USA, Audi is recalling E-Tron and E-Tron Sportback vehicles. The reason is problems with the brake booster.

In the USA, the Audi E-Tron and its brother E-Tron Sportback are slowly getting going. By June of this year, 16,723 Audi customers had already opted for the E-Tron and 3,045 for the E-Tron Sportback. Now a recall that seems small at first glance is causing worry lines in the electrified faces. The reason: Audi is recalling 27 E-Tron Quattro and 11 E-Tron Sportback Quattro to the workshops because of problems with an electronic component in the brake booster. This component could corrode in the affected vehicles, which can lead to short circuits and failure of the brake support - not inconsiderable for a 2.5 ton vehicle. However, despite this failure, the mechanical braking capability should be fully retained.

To be more precise, the E-Tron Quattro are vehicles from the production period July 1 to 8, 2021 with the chassis number range from WA1LAAGE8MB038727 to WA1VAAGE1MB040974. In the case of the E-Tron Sportback Quattro, vehicles from the production period July 5 to 8, 2021 with the chassis number range from WA13AAGE2MB038903 to WA12AAGE2MB040727 are affected. The recall can be found with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under number 21V-707 (Manufacturer number: 47R7). There is still no statement on the question of whether vehicles sold in Germany are also affected. ,

Conclusion

In the USA, 38 Audi E-Tron vehicles currently have to go back to the workshop. The reason lies in an electronic component of the brake booster that can corrode and subsequently lead to a failure of the booster. It is not yet clear whether the problem also affects vehicles sold in Germany.
