Recall Audi A4, A6, A8 & TT: Takata airbags

Audi is recalling a further 205,486 A4, A6, A8 and TT models from 2000 and 2001 due to airbag problems.

Audi has been working on analyzing the aging behavior of the airbag propellant in their vehicles for many years, as other brands (outside the group) have had problems with it. Extensive internal analyzes have now shown that the propellant in the gas generator can age as a result of the ingress of moisture, which in turn could impair the function of the driver's airbag. In these cases, the protective effect of the airbag could be reduced. It's about the production period from 2000 to 2001.,

To be more precise, the current recall extension affects 205,486 A4, A6, A8 and TT vehicles worldwide. In Germany alone, 58,743 owners have to prepare for the post and thus for an unplanned visit to the workshop. During the workshop visit, Audi replaces the gas generator. Based on the current findings, Audi sees no acute danger for the consumer. To date, there has been no known case of the front airbag in an Audi vehicle not functioning as intended. The KBA reference number of the current recall is 010949, the manufacturer code is 69CJ.

Conclusion

Audi is recalling more than 200,000 A4, A6, A8 and TT vehicles worldwide. The problem is well known: the installed Takata airbags. To be more precise, the airbag may not be deployed correctly due to insufficient sealing of the gas generator.
