T he British off-road specialist Land Rover has his Range Rover Sport series updated. The most important innovation is undoubtedly the introduction of the brand's first plug-in hybrid model.
A two-liter, four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine works in the new Range Rover Sport PHEV, which bears the abbreviation P400e under the newly introduced nomenclature and an electric motor hand in hand. The combustion engine contributes 300 hp, the electric motor, which was integrated directly into the eight-speed automatic, another 116 hp. The system output for the Range Rover Sport PHEV is given as 404 PS. The maximum torque is specified as 640 Nm.
Up to 51 km purely electrically
The hybrid drive is of course coupled with an all-wheel drive. This should accelerate the 2,471 kilogram hybrid SUV from zero to 100 km /h in 6.7 seconds. The maximum speed is given as 220 km /h. The consumption figure according to the NEDC is 2.8 liters.
Much more interesting, however, is the purely electrical performance. The 13.1 kWh lithium-ion battery under the load compartment floor supplies electricity for a purely electric range of up to 51 kilometers. The electric top speed is 137 km /h. The energy storage can be recharged with the on-board 7 kW charger at conventional sockets in 7.5 hours. The quick charger only takes two hours and 45 minutes. The charger and charging socket are located behind the Land Rover logo in the radiator grille.
SVR version with now 575 hp
