1 2% of the respondents were neutral. Only 35% voted for the purchase incentive. The amount of the premiums is controversial. 42% feel that the subsidy of 4,000 euros for electric cars is too high, and only 25% of those surveyed consider the amount to be appropriate. On the other hand, 33% consider the premium to be too low. The subsidy of 3,000 euros for plug-in hybrids has met with even stronger criticism. This sum is rejected as too high by 54%, while 26% consider it appropriate. In contrast, 19% consider the 3,000 euros to be too low.

Waste of taxpayers money

Even the success of the bonus is largely doubted. 88% consider it unrealistic for the federal government to achieve its goal of increasing the number of electric vehicles to half a million through the purchase incentives.

The financing of the premium is also rejected by a large majority. 68% of the motorists surveyed criticize the fact that half of the financing comes from tax revenues. Only 23% think it is right to pay the purchase premium from taxpayers' money. Most of those questioned distrust the auto industry. 69% fear that the manufacturers will raise the prices for electric cars and hybrids accordingly with a view to the purchase premiums.
