D The Peugeot 3008 Hybrid4 will start in 2011, whose 2.0-liter diesel with 170 hp has a 30 kW electric motor on the rear axle. Both motors work together when accelerating or in all-wheel drive mode. When maneuvering or in city traffic, the 3008 runs up to three kilometers on electricity alone. In the standard cycle, according to Peugeot, consumption drops to 3.8 liters (CO2 emissions: 99 g /km).
According to Faury, this drive concept will be used in the coming Citroën DS5 in the middle class. In addition, the successor to the Peugeot 407 and another Citroën are to be equipped with it.
Plug-in hybrid test fleets planned
PSA engineers want in the medium term expand the concept, announced Faury. Corresponding models with gasoline instead of diesel engines are planned for Asian markets. For Europe there will be the first test fleets with so-called plug-in hybrids from 2012, the batteries of which can be charged at the socket. The basis for this is also the Peugeot 3008 , for which the developers promise an electric range of 20 kilometers and a standard consumption of less than two liters (CO2 emissions: less than 50 g /km).
Faury has not yet given any information on prices. However, he left no doubt that vehicles become more expensive as the battery capacity increases. 'That is why we will not get the technology onto the market without government incentives.'
