Porsche Charging Service is not free

A smartphone app shows the exact position and the current availability of charging stations and the price at the location of the car, along the route or at the destination of a trip. The navigation system installed in the car is also supplied with this data and can adapt the route accordingly. The electricity is not paid for at each individual charging station, but via centrally stored customer data at Porsche. However, the handling and billing of the individual charging processes with the customer's credit card is not entirely free. The Porsche Charging Service costs 2.50 euros per month.

'In addition to fascinating vehicles, a customer-friendly charging infrastructure is the key to the long-term success of electromobility,' says Detlev von Platen, Porsche Board Member for Sales and Marketing. “With the Porsche Charging Service, we offer our customers a central digital platform that simplifies the charging process to the full. This means that charging can be integrated even more conveniently into everyday life. ”

The Porsche Charging Service is starting in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Finland. More countries are to be added from the end of 2018.

The offer from Porsche is an example of the change from a pure car company to a mobility service provider, which many car manufacturers often promise.
