T he Porsche Cayman steers purposefully towards the model change and thus also to four-cylinder boxer engines. But before that happens, Porsche pulls out all the stops and puts the Porsche Cayman GT4 on keel. And it has it all. As the last boom of the six-cylinder naturally aspirated boxer, a 3.8-liter unit was implanted in the GT4, which was derived directly from the 911 Carrera S engine. In order to maintain a last respectable distance to the 911, the boxer in the Cayman GT4 is only allowed to produce 385 hp and 420 Nm. It is shifted by a manual six-speed gearbox, which is equipped with dynamic gearbox bearings.

GT4 with 911 GT3 bonds

With these key data, the 1,340 kg (DIN empty) heavy Porsche Cayman GT4 is good for a sprint time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 295 km /h. 200 km /h should be reached after 14.5 seconds. The standard consumption is given as 10.3 liters. The Porsche Cayman GT4 has already set its first fragrance brand on the Nordschleife. According to Porsche, the hardcore athlete beat through the Green Hell in 7:40 minutes. The mid-engine coupe was only eight seconds slower than the Porsche 911 (991) GT3 in the super test by sport auto .

The Cayman was also allowed to use the 30 mm lower chassis and the brakes GT4 reach into the 911 shelf. GT3 components are used almost exclusively here. The GT4 can optionally be upgraded with ceramic stoppers (surcharge: 7,319 euros). For the wheels, the choice fell on 20-inch models with 245/35 tires on the front and 295/30 on the rear axle. In order to meet the GT claim, Porsche is also upgrading the Cayman in terms of aerodynamics, which should primarily increase downforce.

The new front apron has three large air inlets and a powerful spoiler lip. A fixed air control unit was mounted on the stern above the standard spoiler apron. The air inlets on the flanks are proven with additional scoops.

Porsche Cayman GT4 from around 86,000 euros

GT romance also exudes the cockpit of the Porsche Cayman GT4. Leather and Alcantara provide that racing feeling on the sports seats, while your hands grip a compact GT4 sports steering wheel. Full bucket seats are among the options availablecarbon fiber reinforced plastic, a specific Sport Chrono package with Track Precision app and a 3,927 euro clubsport package to choose from. This includes a roll cage screwed to the body behind the front seats, a 6-point belt in red for the driver's side, a fire extinguisher with bracket and a pre-installation for the main battery switch. This can be purchased separately from the Porsche Motorsport department, as can the cage bracket at the front and the structural cross behind the seats for motorsport events. A 6-point belt for the passenger side is available as an option.

The Porsche Cayman GT4 can only be seen in Geneva, it will be available at dealerships from the end of March, but it can be ordered immediately. If you want to put the hottest Porsche Cayman of all time in your garage, you should have at least 85,776 euros ready for the GT4 pleasure. This means that the GT4 is a whopping 12,000 euros above the Cayman GTS, but still almost 5,000 euros below the cheapest 911.

If you still prefer an open version, you can speculate on the GT4 drive train in the Boxster. This speculation is supported by Erlkönige in Boxster RS-Trimm .
