Striking changes to the new Porsche 911

At the front of the 911, the typical arched fenders remain, the exterior mirrors moved from the window triangles to the door sill. An increased proportion of aluminum reduces the weight of the body by 45 kilograms. What has remained is the retractable rear spoiler, which is now wider and can be extended variably. In contrast, the newly designed taillights have become slimmer. The Porsche 911 Carrera has two tailpipes, the Carrera S has four

Cockpit with small changes

Evolution instead Revolution also in the cockpit of the Porsche 911. The driver can also look at five round instruments, only four of which display analog and one functions as a multifunctional screen. The rev counter remains dominant in the middle, the ignition lock remains in its usual place to the left of the steering wheel.

Porsche 911 drivers have to get used to the sight of the center console. With design borrowings from the super sports car Carrera GT, this now rises and also takes the gear lever to new heights.

Porsche 911 with more driving dynamics and less consumption

But the 911 would not be a 911, if he did not also improve in terms of driving dynamics with this model change. The new 3.4-liter six-cylinder boxer in the 911 Carrera now develops 350 hp at 6,400 rpm. and comes to a maximum torque of 380 Nm. The 3.8-liter variant in the Carrera S presses 400 hp at 7,000 rpm and 440 Nm at 5,600 rpm from its six horizontal cylinders. Both versions are shifted using a new, manual seven-speed gearbox with a long-geared last gear or the optional dual clutch gearbox, which also has seven speed levels.

Despite the power plus, the new Porsche 911 is said to have become significantly more economical. All versions should be well below ten liters. Specifically, Porsche names consumption of 8.2 and 8.7 liters for the versions with PDK. The CO2 values are similarly 194 and 205 g /km. The reductions in fuel consumption are made possible by gasoline direct injection, the standard start-stop system, intelligent thermal management as well as braking energy recuperation and a sailing function in the dual clutch transmission.

In 4.6 seconds to 100 km /h

The Carrera with PDK completes the sprint from zero to 100 km /h in 4.6 seconds, the Carrera S with PDK in 4.3 seconds. If you also order the Sport Chrono Package, you can cut another two tenths of a second in Sport Plus mode. The top speed in the Carrera S should be 302 km /h. But the new Porsche 911 should not only offer more longitudinal, but also more lateral dynamics. This is supported by the longer wheelbase, more track width at the front, a new rear axle and the electromechanical steering. For a surcharge, the 911 can also be upgraded with active control systems such as the new roll stabilization and driven to even more lateral dynamics.

The new Porsche 911 will celebrate its world premiere at the IAA in Frankfurt. It will not be available to dealers until December 3rd. The new Porsche 911 can be ordered from September 1st. The prices are 88,037 euros for the 911 Carrera and 102,436 euros for the 911 Carrera S.
