
After the Chevrolet Captiva, there is now also a renovation for the O pel Antara. The compact SUV from Opel should thus regain momentum in a market that is currently clearly dominated by other brands. The recipe for this is not just the revision of the exterior, which is common with facelift measures. Something is also happening under the hood of the Opel Antara.
Opel Antara with more power and a fresh look
On the outside, the 2011 vintage of the Opel Antara can be recognized by the modified radiator grille with the current Opel chrome clasp. The fog lights went up into the bumper, the (optical) underrun protection was redesigned. At the rear there is a new design for the taillights. In addition, wheel sizes up to 19 inches will be available in the future. Compared to the sister model Chevrolet Captiva, whose facelift version was already presented at the Paris Motor Show, the visual change is less obvious.
Opel Antara 2011: new diesel
Instead of the previous one Two-liter diesel power plant enters a new 2.2-liter CDTI. It is available in two power levels, with 163 and 184 hp. Compared to its predecessor, an increase of 34 hp. The available gearboxes are also new, and switches such as automatic are now available in a six-speed version. This also applies to the revised 2.4-liter gasoline engine, which has increased power by 30 to 170 hp. Removed from the model range: the 3.2-liter V6 petrol engine.
In the interior, new paneling and upholstery fabrics, a revised graphic of the instruments, a new center console and additional shelves will ensure a modern look. A more noble leather interior called 'Titanium' is available as an option.
Opel Antara 2011: The price
Orders for the new model started in December. The market launch is planned for February 2011. Opel has waived a price increase and is offering the facelift version at the price of the previous model. De facto, given the modernized technology, a price advantage for the customer. The all-wheel drive models only start from the middle equipment line Design Edition, the cheapest Antara 4x4 is the one176 hp petrol engine for 30,420 euros. In the case of diesel, the new 2.2-liter four-wheel drive engine starts at 32,230 euros. The most expensive model is the 2.2 CDTI Ecotec in the Cosmo version with six-speed automatic, it is in the price list at 37,550 euros.
