Subscriptions & booklets

B within a few weeks there were all 150 Allocated starting places: The Motor Klassik readers' run at the AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix is fully booked again in 2012. That speaks for the great attraction of the traditional classic weekend at the Nürburgring as well as for the extensive program for the Motor Klassik readers during the entire weekend. The highlight is of course the trips in your own car over the Grand Prix track and on Sunday over the Nordschleife.

It's all about diversity

The diversity of interests, which is reflected in the vehicles participating in the readers' run, is impressive. A VW Beetle is represented, as is a Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray, a Porsche 911 from the 964 generation and a 356 Speedster from 1954. Classics up to and including year of construction 1992 are generally permitted the M of the sporty BMW subsidiary as an emblem, which this year is celebrating its 40th anniversary with its own race at the 40th Oldtimer Grand Prix. A total of 23 BMWs are registered for the readers' run, the oldest is a baroque angel with the 3.2 liter V8 under the round bonnet. The most strongly represented brand is Porsche with 32 cars, which represent all series between the 1950s and the 1990s.

There are also rarities such as two Borgward Isabella Coupé and Cabriolet from the fifties, one of only 250 built Lamborghini Islero or, for US car fans, a Pontiac Bonneville 428 Station Wagon, both built in 1969.

Motor classic reader runs over the Nordschleife and Grand Prix track

Zum For the first time, the 150 participants gather on Saturday at the entrance to the Müllenbachschleife diagonally across from the ams driving safety center 2. From there, a gate from around 6 p.m. leads directly to the Grand Prix track of the Nürburgring, where the two-seater racing cars of World Sportscar Masters have done their laps. The route is exclusively available to readers for half an hour.

But with 150 classics on the 4.6 kilometer route, the GP circuit, which was inaugurated in 1984 and modernized in 2002, is a reasonable pace on Sunday morning over the legendary Nordschleife, which opened in 1927. In between readers' runs, the participants have enough time to watch the many racesand enjoy the unique atmosphere of the paddock. Of course, like all other visitors, the Motor Klassik tent in the paddock is open to them, inviting them to relax with a coffee from the Motor Klassik edition cup.

Deep connection between Motor Klassik and OGP

This cup with its annually changing design is meanwhile itself a coveted classic. A cup filled with coffee is available in the Motor Klassik tent for 3.50 euros. This year the number '84' adorns the edition cup: In 1984 the first edition of Motor Klassik appeared, incidentally as part of the 12th AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix, which was held for the first time on the newly opened Grand Prix circuit of the Nürburgring . One year later, the current Motor Klassik magazine was even the event's program. The connection between Motor Klassik and the Oldtimer Grand Prix has deep roots: One more reason to celebrate the festival with you, our readers.

But we don't just celebrate with the Motor Klassik Readers' run and our café in the paddock, but also with an anniversary exhibition (more on pages 14 and 15). In addition, we will of course report in detail on one of the largest classic races in the world in Motor Klassik and Motor Klassik Online. But we are also looking forward to your personal experiences at the 40th AvD-Oldtimer-Grand Prix: Just write to us and preferably send a picture with your report. The OGP really offers a lot to talk about old cars and motorsport history.
