E s were once over 200 cars who shared the Nürburgring-Nordschleife in the 24h race. But in the last few years the starting field has thinned out a lot. That means less traffic on the 25.378-kilometer Nürburgring-Nordschleife. The number of participants leveled off between 150 and 160 cars. For the 46th edition of the endurance classic, the teams registered 150 racing cars.

150 cars in 24 classes

They are divided into 24 different classes. The fastest racing cars are also the most frequently represented: In the SP9 class, over 30 GT3 racers scramble for overall victory. Caliber of the hit Mercedes-AMG GT3, BMW M6 GT3, Audi R8 LMS, Porsche 911 GT3 R, Ferrari 488 GT3, Lamborghini Huracán GT3 and Aston Martin Vantage GT3. The variety of brands is great: the organizers speak of 20 different brands in the field. Most of the cars come from Porsche and BMW, each with over 40 cars. A few more numbers. 571 drivers have registered for the classic. 105 of them debutants. 7,224 participants have taken part in the Nürburgring 24-hour race since the first edition in 1970. The most loyal pilot is Volker Strycek with 41 participations. Michael Hess (30) and Jürgen Nett (28) follow.

Not all carsare at the start themselves in the 24h race. Because they already had an accident in practice or qualifying. For example, the Walkenhorst BMW M6 GT3, which it caught in free practice. The damage could not be repaired in such a short time.
