E rst the Titan, now the Armada: Nissan USA rearranges itself among the big chunks of the house. The Nissan Armada, presented for the first time in 2003, now has a completely redesigned successor after 13 years of production. While the previous Nissan Armada ran on the platform of the full-size pickup Titan together with it at the Nissan plant in Canton, Mississippi, the change is now being made. The new Nissan Armada shares the platform and production facility with the Nissan Patrol, which is no longer available in Western Europe, so it will come from Japan to worldwide customers.

The new Nissan Armada comes from Japan

As a result of this change, the new Nissan Armada has a significantly more modern substructure than with the truck chassis of the titanium pickup. At the world premiere of the Nissan Armada at the Chicago Auto Show, Nissan's Head of Marketing Phil O'Connor emphasized the resulting benefits in terms of driving behavior, driving safety and the available assistance systems.

The Nissan Armada will be an eight-seater full-size -SUV also offer enough space for large families. Compared to the previous generation, it grows by a few centimeters to a length of 5.28 meters. The width (2.05 meters without mirrors) and height (1.94 meters) are also majestic. However, the new platform has reduced the wheelbase a little; it is now still an impressive 3.1 meters in length.

Bulky instead of messing with the weights too. The new Nissan Armada weighs around 2.7 tons when empty, and up to 700 kilos of payload are allowed on board. So that the giant cruiser can be set in motion with style, there is a 5.6-liter V8 as a standard drive. Petrol, of course. The four-valve naturally aspirated engine produces 390 hp and 544 Newton meters. The propulsion is managed by a seven-speed automatic. In the 4x4 models, an automatic all-wheel drive is used, which can be locked and has an off-road ratio stepped at 2.7: 1.

Assistants everywhere

Everything is on with assistance systems Board what is standard in the luxury SUV class today. An excerpt: Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW), Backup Collision Intervention (BCI), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Distance Control Assist (DCA), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Intervention ( BSI), Blind Spot Warning (BSW).

Uff (UFF) ...

In the three equipment variants SV, SL and Platinumthe luxury level can be increased from considerable to exuberant depending on the financial cushion. Leather and wood are set, as is the entertainment navigation system with 8-inch display, and a powerful Bose sound system can be ordered. Even a real-time weather forecast is available, but it costs extra when used. The reduced interior noise was particularly important to the developers. They now call it 'Library Level', although it remains open which library sound was specifically thought of. In addition to the increased use of insulating materials, the special acoustic glass used is intended to create a whispered atmosphere.

Nissan Armada as MY 2017

Production of the new Nissan Armada starts at the Kyushu plant, Japan, while the Endurance V8 is manufactured and delivered from Decherd, Tennessee. Sales start in the summer of the 2017 model year, prices have not yet been announced. The previous Nissan Armada starts in the US from the equivalent of around 34,000 euros.
