D he new VW Touran is now also available with the top -Motors can be ordered. The 180 hp 1.8 TSI is shifted with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission and costs 34,250 euros including highline equipment. The 190 PS strong TDI can be ordered in the Highline equipment line with 6-speed DSG from 37,150 euros. The prices for the Touran start at 23,350 euros for the 110 hp petrol engine. The base price is 100 euros higher than the predecessor. The 110 PS turbodiesel in the VW Touran is available from 26,325 euros. If the choice falls on the 150 PS strong 1.4 TSI, at least 30,075 euros are due, the 150 PS strong turbodiesel costs from 30,975 euros. The 'Milano' design package is also new, with features such as ambient lighting, a black headliner, piano lacquer applications, a multifunction steering wheel and heated front seats. The Comfortline and Highline equipment lines start at 1,675 euros.

After a good 12 years on the market and 1.9 million units produced, the time has come for a generation change for the VW Touran. The new one is based - this is no surprise - on the modular transverse matrix and is therefore the first van to be built on the group platform.

You can find our seat sample in the new VW Touran here

With the change to the new base, the VW Touran grows in length and width, and at the same time shrinks marginally in height (see table). Similar to the Golf Sportsvan, VW has given the Touran sportier proportions. Thanks to the extra wheelbase of 113 mm, the compact van should offer more space inside than its predecessor.

Despite the larger dimensions, VW was able to reduce the weight of the Touran by up to 62 kg. The seven-seater van, which is still available as a seven-seater, has slimmed down in terms of drive technology, the 25% stiffer body and the newly developed rear seat system. In addition, their adjustment range has been enlarged so that passengers have more legroom if necessary. When loaded to the roof, the trunk volume behind the rear seat increases by 48 to 1,040 liters. Compared to the data of the predecessor, however, the maximum total volume of the seven-seater variant is smallerfrom 1,913 to 1,857 liters. The biggest advantage of the new seating system is that the armrests of the individual seats (including the front passenger seat) can be folded down to create a level loading area.

With the generation change, VW has also modernized the Touran's range of engines. Furthermore, three TSI and three TDI engines are offered, all of which develop more power than before (see table). Due to the reduced weight and improved aerodynamics (Cd value: 0.296), the engines should also be up to 19% more economical than in the previous model. The most economical model with a petrol engine is the 150 hp VW Touran 1.4 TSI, which, in conjunction with the 7-speed DSG, consumes an average of 5.4 l /100 km. Among the diesels, the 110 hp 1.6 TDI with an average consumption of 4.1 l /100 km (with 7-speed DSG) is the most economical variant. All engines are equipped with a start-stop system as standard.

VW Touran with numerous new assistance systems

In the area of assistance systems and infotainment, the new Touran is also up to date with VW -Technology available. The van is equipped with the multi-collision brake as standard. New on the option list are ...

Market launch in September 2015

The new VW Touran celebrates its premiere (for Sitzprobe ) at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. In addition to all the technical innovations, the van has also been visually significantly changed. The radiator grille at the front now has three chrome-colored cross struts that extend into the flatter headlights. When viewed from the side, the new VW Touran can be identified by its lower window area than its predecessor, the glossy black B and C pillars and the optional chrome surrounds on the side windows. At the rear, the differences are particularly evident in the changed design of the taillights.
