D a BMW brings the long-awaited new 3 Series on the market and what the customer does, continues to buy SUV models bluntly. While the 3 Series was still a Bavarian bestseller when it launched in April, it was overtaken by the X1 in April. But there is also an X model at the other end of the BMW sales hit parade - namely the X7, which, even as an SUV, will probably never grow into a mass model.

If commercial vehicles also played a role in our consideration, the Fiat 500 would only play a minor role in the shadow of Ducato in the house of Italians. It sold more than twice as well as the small 500 in April. At Ford, things are going like clockwork for the Focus, but the big SUV Edge doesn't want to get going.

Small SUVs go almost everywhere

At Honda, forecasts are always difficult. While the Civic was at the top of the internal sales hit parade in the previous month, it is at the bottom in April. Jazz has dusted its place in the sun. At Hyundai, the Tucson is right at the top, at Jaguar the E-Pace and at Jeep the Compass, which clearly shows - only the rather small SUVs are really good.

Quite different for Toyota, for example. The Japanese mainly sell small cars like the Yaris and Aygo, the compact Corolla can still keep pace in the slipstream. The US electric car maker has entered the market extremely strongly with the new Model 3. Now the first delivery pressure seems to be out and the numbers are going down. Nevertheless, the new Model 3 registrations clearly surpass the sister models.

Skoda is predominantly Octavia, then the broad middle with Fabia, Karoq and Superb. Only the Scala is weak, but it is still brand new on the market and will still find its place. On the other hand, the Seat range has obviously already leveled out. Last month's front-runner Ateca fell back clearly behind the long-term bestseller Leon in April.
