B e there are no new registrations in Germany for March a lot to analyze and question. In view of the circumstances - registration offices closed, dealerships closed - it is hardly surprising that new SUV registrations fell almost at the same rate as the overall market: a decline of 37.5 percent for SUVs and a decrease of 37.7 percent for all passenger cars New registrations.
Decline in SUVs in line with the overall market
All of this in the traditionally strongest month of the year. Most cars are usually registered for the first time in March at the beginning of spring. However, it did not hit all models equally hard, 18 of the 98 listed SUV even managed the feat of surpassing the figures for the same month last year. Among them, however, quite a few with comparatively low numbers, where just a few more units bring a corresponding increase (for example the Mercedes GL with an increase of 49 percent with just 97 new registrations in March).
In fact, the sharp decline comes of the new registrations in the segment primarily from the volume models. The Ford Kuga was hit particularly badly with a decline of 83 percent, of all things when the model change to the new generation of one of the best-selling SUVs in Germany April apply even more. At least there are a few small comebacks to celebrate: The Nissan X-Trail, badly shaken last year, is gradually getting back on track (534 new registrations, +238 percent), and the Model X from Tesla surprises with fresh vigor (100 new registrations , + 64%).
Note: The registration statistics are the official information from the Federal Motor Transport Authority in Flensburg. The division into the respective classes is carried out by the manufacturer using a key number. The statistics can also show models that are not available on the German market or that are no longer being built. This peculiarity can occur with the KBA statistics if e.g. foreign vehicles are registered for the first time in Germany or vehicles have a new ID number. received.
