M it was a proud sales plus of all-terrain vehicles and SUVs New year. To ensure that it stays that way, the manufacturers continue to step up. All segments are upgraded, from compacts to ultra-expensive luxury devices. At the Geneva Motor Show, the first major European car fair of the year, there are several world and European premieres.
New SUV at the Geneva Motor Show 2012
The world premiere of the Opel Mokka is particularly interesting from a German perspective. With the SUV based on the Corsa platform, Opel wants to establish a new class in which it can currently operate without competition from other German manufacturers. The 4.28 meter short Mocha is to continue the SUV downsizing in the class below the Tiguan and Kuga.
Keyword Ford Kuga: After the presentation of the identical sister model Escape, the Cologne-based company will show the corresponding European version of the in Geneva successful compact SUV. The new Ford Kuga will come onto the market in 2013 and visually play the dynamic card. The new triturbo diesels from BMW, on the other hand, promise dramatic performance: with the BMW X5 M50d and the BMW X6 M50d, the Munich-based company is advancing into previously unknown regions of diesel liter output.
Geneva Motor Show 2012: new pickups
Mitsubishi presents the completely new Outlander in Geneva. The successful model sheds the 'jet fighter' look and is now more beefy. The French cooperation partners Peugeot and Citroën use the bestseller Mitsubishi ASX as the basis for their new compact SUV. Peugeot 4008 and Citroën Aircross celebrate their premiere in Geneva.
Pickup fans can also look forward to Geneva. The new Isuzu D-Max will be on display there for the first time in Europe, still in its right-hand drive version. The D-Max was redesigned from the ground up and shares optics and technology with the Chevrolet Colorado. Instead of the previous two four-cylinder engines, a new 2.5-liter turbodiesel is used that develops 163 hp. In autumn, the new Isuzu pickup will also be available in Germany. Another pickup highlight in Geneva is a study called Canyon based on the VW Amarok.
