New sports car registrations May 2015: Audi TT scratches the Porsche 911

D he Ingolstadt was the top spot in May 2015 very close on his heels. Only 11 fewer registrations give the TT the silver medal. The long-running Porsche 911 is still at the top of the podium with 836 registrations and an increase of 21.5 percent compared to the same month last year. Third place remains with the Mercedes E-Class Coupé, which is classified as a sports car.

The best-placed 'foreigner' among the sports cars is Jaguar with the F-Type and 134 new registrations in eighth place 16.8 percent and sees itself on par with the Porsche Cayman, with the same number of registrations but an increase of 18.6 percent.

The line-up of super sports cars is led by the Audi R8, although it is only 41 Approvals in May 2015 is on the decline. Its market share is one percent. The next super sports car, the Ferrari 458, is two places lower and can only claim 0.7 percent.

A total of 4,255 sports car vehicle certificates were presented to the German registration offices in May. Less than in April, but 8.1 percent more than in May 2014. A total of 18,872 athletes have made it onto the streets this year.
