When it comes to the distribution by fuel type, the Spanish market sees a quasi-parity between diesel and gasoline models - the values ​​here are 49.8 to 49.9%. Electric cars do not play a role in Spain, their market share is 0.4%.

Seat is the market leader in its home market

The market leader in Spain is Seat with a market share of around 8 in the first half of the year, 0% and 53,333 new registrations. Opel follows in second place with 52,395 new registrations and a market share of 7.8%. The third force on the Spanish market is VW with 51,047 new registrations after 6 months and a market share of 7.6%. Peugeot has around 7.0%, Ford and Citroën have 5.7%, Toyota 5.3%, Nissan 5.0%, Fiat 4.7%, Audi 4.6%, Kia 4.5%, Mercedes with 4.2%, Hyundai with 4.0% and BMW with 3.9%.

At the very top of the favor of Spanish new car buyers is the Seat Ibiza with 20,811 new registrations in the first half of the year. The brand brother Leon follows closely behind with 19,867 new registrations. The podium is filled by the Opel Corsa, which has 17,110 new registrations after 6 months. The top 10 in Spain are completed by the VW Polo in 4th place, the Nissan Qashqai in 5th place, Renault Clio in 6th place, VW Golf in 7th place, Dacia Sandero in 8th place, Opel Astra in 9th place and Peugeot 208 in 10th place.

Spaniards buy small cars, compact models and SUVs

The top 50 new registrations in Spain are determined exclusively by small and compact models and various SUVs. Larger models can only be found in the lower ranks. Only the places 57 and 58 with the Opel Insignia and the Audi A4 are middle class vehicles in the statistics.
