New registrations sports cars April 2019: smack for 911

S port cars only have a small share of total registrations in Germany. In the reporting month of April 2019, 5,105 athletes received a license plate for the first time, compared to the 310,715 new registrations of all cars in the month, an only twisting proportion - more precisely 1.6 percent market share. Nevertheless, sports cars, whether powerful, dynamic, noble or exotic, are always an eye-catcher - even when it comes to new registrations.

BMW Z4 clearly ahead of the competition

At the top with a share of 17.7 percent and 902 new registrations the Mercedes E-Class Coupé. And yes, we also know that the model is not a sports car in the classic sense, but now, thanks to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, the manufacturer has defined the model as a sports car and the people of Flensburg label it accordingly. In second place is a sports car that is less worthy of discussion: the Porsche 911 with 712 new registrations. But, both the Mercedes with 26.5 percent and the 911 with 44.1 percent are clearly in the bad compared to the same month last year.

On the other hand, the third-placed BMW Z4, which is new to the market, really hit the ground running . He can already combine 697 new registrations. The placement is also dramatic because the direct competition from the Mercedes SLC and Audi TT are heavy-handed. The Stuttgart athlete is in sixth place with 373 new registrations and a decrease of 30.7 percent compared to the same month last year, while the Ingolstadt-based athlete ranks fifth with 490 new registrations but with a decrease of 21.3 percent. Worth mentioning: The Ford Mustang is in fourth place with 495 new registrations and an increase of 153.8 percent.

Lotus and Lexus at the end

Also the two identically constructed sports cars Toyota GT86 and Subaru BRZ are hardly present on the German market. Toyota manages 19, the Subaru 15 new registrations. A look at the end of the statistics shows that the exotic romps here: Lotus, Morgan, Lexus, Corvette and Aston Martin.

The division into the respective classes is carried out by the manufacturer using a key number. Models that are not available on the German market or that are no longer built can also appear in the statistics.
