D he first month of registration of the new year is behind us, and so we are the first winners and losers in the sober registration statistics. This time we are looking at the lower end of the hit parade. The KBA lists a total of almost 300 models in its monthly registration statistics. In January, 82 or fewer new registrations were enough for an entry under the flop 50.
Exotic and generational changes
Just The Mercedes Vito has still slipped into this ranking, but its brand brothers SL, AMG GT and CL can also be found in the list. Despite the SUV boom, the Infiniti FX and the Opel Antara are almost on par. The Kia Optima, Mitsubishi Lancer and the Toyota Corolla may also be considered to be the absolute exotic ones on the German market. With the VW Eos, the VW group, which is used to success, also contributes a model to the registration dwarfs.
In the lower registration regions, however, there are also the structurally identical models Fiat Doblo and Opel Combo, the trio Citroën Jumpy, Peugeot Expert and Fiat Scudo and the Japanese athletes Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86. Statistics can also offer a generation change. Listed are the Land Rover Freelander and its successor Land Rover Discovery Sport, with the oldie now clearly ranking above the newcomer.
