I n March 2017, new car registrations really picked up speed. The KBA recorded a total of 359,683 cars brought onto the market for the first time, an increase of 11.4% compared to the previous year. The spring mood also caused plenty of postponements on the podium in numerous segments. There are also new front-runners in five segments.

In the mid-range segment, the Mercedes C-Class is now at the forefront. The Audi A4 is in second place and the BMW 3 Series has slipped onto the third. The previous month's winner VW Passat is completely off the podium. In the upper middle class, the Mercedes E-Class relegated the Audi A6 and the BMW 5 Series to their places. In the luxury class, on the other hand, the BMW 7 Series was able to take the lead from the S-Class. The Swabian is in second place, now followed by the Porsche Panamera. The Audi A7 is out of the top 3.

Porsche 911 again at the top of the sports car

Leadership change also in sports cars. The Porsche 911 is back at the top, followed in March by the Ford Mustang. Last month's winner Audi TT only reached third place.

The VW Transporter and the VW Caddy swapped places in the Utilities category, with the T6 at the top in March. Third place went to the Citroen Berlingo.

In the Minis everything remains unchanged: VW Up ahead of Fiat 500 and Opel Adam. The same applies to the small cars, where the VW Polo continues to stand in front of the Opel Corsa and the Ford Fiesta, and the compacts, where the VW Golf asserts itself in front of the Opel Astra and Skoda Octavia the Ford Kuga in front, but behind it the Opel Mokka in March. The new third is the BMW X1. The VW Tiguan continues to lead in the off-road vehicle segment. The Audi Q3 is the new runner-up and the Volvo XC60 has moved up to third. In the van segments, the Ford models C-MAX and S-MAX took third place.

When it comes to mobile homes, it is not remarkable that the Ducato is once again in the lead. It is noteworthy, however, that the Italian has 3,800 new registrations in March. This is where the seasonal motorhome hit comes through.
