A lle world is talking about reducing consumption and Emissions, efficiency and sustainability. Nevertheless, ever more powerful engines are sneaking into the manufacturers' range of models. And these are not only reserved for sports cars or power limousines.

Alfa Romeo
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio in the QV version.

Alfa Romeo has already presented with the Stelvio and planted his new top engine in his new SUV. In the top version QV, the Italians let 510 hp and 600 Nm of torque fall from a 2.9-liter V6 biturbo engine via four driven wheels. Audi is mixing a similar recipe for the upcoming RS Q5. It should come in 2017 and rely on the V6 biturbo from the RS5 and should also produce around 500 hp. The BMW X3 M is not expected until 2018 and then with only around 450 hp from a three-liter twin-turbo in-line six-cylinder. It will take over the design of the all-wheel drive from the new M5 - that is, it has a strong emphasis on the rear and is designed for maximum driving dynamics. This drivetrain will later also find expression in the X4 M.

The Mercedes-AMG GLC 63, which is also available as the GLC 63 Coupé, is already shortly before its premiere - at the New York Auto Show in early April. Here, the well-known four-liter V8 biturbo with up to 510 hp and up to 700 Nm ensures greater driving pleasure. But the British can also do power SUVs. At Jaguar, the F-Pace is in the starting blocks as SVR. It also comes with a V8 and charging. Here, however, the pouring is even stronger. From five liters of cubic capacity around 550 PS should start.

With over 700 PS at the peak of performance

The competition from the USA can only smile tiredly. 6.2 liters capacity, 8 cylinders and a fat compressorthe performance basis for the upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee Hellcat. With more than 700 hp, the performance should hardly have to fear opponents.

Change of scene to a relatively half portion. The power version of the Peugeot 3008 should also be extremely dynamic in driving. It comes in 2019 and relies on a hybrid drive train consisting of a 1.6-liter turbo combustion engine and an electric motor. This station wagon promises all-wheel drive and at least 300 hp system performance. At Ford there is still no ready-to-speak model, but the head of the performance department, Dave Pericak, speaks quite openly in interviews about adding the RS label to SUV models in the future. An obvious choice here would be a Kuga RS with the 350 hp 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbo from the Focus RS. Later the EcoSport and the Edge would also be conceivable as RS versions.

We already caught the Seat Ateca Cupra as Erlkönig. It takes over the two-liter TSI from the Leon Cupra and becomes a total package with 290 hp and 350 Nm. The company sister company Skoda takes a completely different approach. Here the Kodiaq should auto-ignite to become the RS. The 240 hp and 500 Nm two-liter, four-cylinder biturbodiesel is taken over from the Tiguan.
