L Dear readers, dear Reader,

who pays first, drives first. True to this motto, Volkswagen is planning the market launch of its ID. (see page 8) a reservation model for seriously interested customers. Whoever was the first to own the ID. would like to belong and is willing to make a corresponding down payment, will receive his car especially early after production starts in November. With this strategy, Tesla had also tested the reaction to its models in the USA and tied purchase candidates at an early stage. However, it remains to be seen whether the first VW on the new electric platform will be as hype as the luxury electric cars from California.

The fact is that the Wolfsburg-based company and its established competitors will be on for a few more years a successful business with conventionally powered models. For this reason, there is increasing pressure on manufacturers to use existing technologies, platforms and plants more effectively by means of new collaborations and alliances. The cooperation between Volkswagen and Ford announced last week will not be the last example of this.

Enjoy reading,

Your Stefan Cerchez
