Volvo promotes Henrik Green to Senior Vice President for Research and Development. The 43-year-old succeeds Peter Mertens, who took over the position in 2011 and is now E n development board member at Audi .
Green becomes head of 6,500 developers
Green has been with Volvo since 1996, most recently as Senior Vice President responsible for sales, product planning and customer service. According to Volvo, Green was partly responsible for the decision to use three and four-cylinder engines in the future. He has already worked for the brand in various management positions in China and Sweden. He is responsible for 6,500 developers. Volvo CEO Håkan Samuelsson explains: 'Henrik is predestined to lead our team of highly talented engineers around the world at a time when Volvo is entering the second phase of its transformation process.'
