D he king is dead, long live the king. BMW brings the new 3 Series, initially only as a sedan, but the Bavarian bestseller is allowed to compete in three equipment lines. You can choose from the Sport Line (uses black accents inside and outside), the Luxury Line (uses chrome elements) and the Modern Line (uses aluminum accents). New BMW 3 Series with more space in the rear
In addition to the expanded range of equipment, the BMW 3 Series has also increased its dimensions. In length there is 93 millimeters more, the wheelbase grows by 50 millimeters, which should especially be felt by the rear passengers. A track increase of 37 millimeters on the front axle and 47 millimeters on the rear axle also make it appear stronger.
The new BMW 3 Series has a total length of 4.62 meters, a width of 1.81 meters and a height of 1.43 meters. The wheelbase is 2.81 meters. In terms of weight, BMW wants to have saved up to 40 kilograms compared to its predecessor. The trunk volume has increased by 20 to 480 liters.
The BMW 3 Series will be available with four engines, the hybrid will follow at the end of 2012
There will initially be four engines when the new BMW 3 Series is launched to choose from - two petrol and two diesel. The smallest gasoline engine is a two-liter four-cylinder with turbocharging as the 328i. This makes 245 hp and 350 Nm. The new 3 Series sprints from zero to 100 km /h in 5.9 seconds, reaches 250 km /h and consumes an average of 6.4 liters.
The top petrol engine is the 335i with the well-known three-liter turbo six-cylinder with 306 hp and 400 Nm torque. Here are 5.5 seconds, 250 km /h and 7.9 liters in the data sheet. The range is supplemented by two versions of the 320d. The two-liter four-cylinder produces either 184 hp or 163 hp. The maximum torque is uniformly 380 Nm. The latter should only consume 4.1 liters. The strong diesel comes to 4.5 liters. The 163 PS version sprints to 100 km /h in 8.0 seconds and reaches 230 km /h, the 184 PS version can be recorded in 7.5 seconds and 235 km /h.
A hybrid drive, which, like in the 5-series hybrid, combines the 306 PS gasoline engine with a 40 kW electric motor, should be available from autumn 2012, offer 450 Nm of torque and reduce consumption to 6.4 literPress.
Gear changes in the new BMW 3 Series are carried out with a manual six-speed gearshift as standard, an eight-speed automatic transmission can also be ordered as an option. This also harmonizes with the standard start-stop system. You can also save money by setting the optional driving experience switch to Eco. The Sport and Sport + modes support the dynamic pace, comfort speaks for itself.

The optional head-up display is also new in the BMW 3 Series as well as numerous assistance systems. You can choose from a night vision assistant with person recognition, a parking assistant, a lane change warning, a lane departure warning and a speed limit assistant. Also in the range: the latest version of Connected Drive, which is supposed to meet the most modern infotainment requirements.
Further options for the new BMW 3 Series are adaptive headlights with cornering lights and variable light distribution, variable sports steering and 'Active Protection.' In the trade the sixth generation of the BMW 3 Series will arrive on February 11, 2012. BMW specifies the base price at 35,350 euros for the 320d. The 335i is charged with at least 43,600 euros. The 3 Series Touring will be submitted in autumn.
