However, according to rumors, the new Alfa 8C is not powered by an eight-cylinder like its predecessor. Instead, the mid-engine model is powered by a V6 twin-turbo engine developed by Ferrari. The six-cylinder is currently in use in the Giulia QV and the Stelvio QV, where it generates 510 hp. An electric motor on the front axle - this drive train also comes from Ferrari - should be able to achieve the output of over 700 hp specified by Alfa. As an alternative, the next generation of the twin-turbo V8 from Ferrari could also work in a modified form in the 8C, this drive train is also designed as a hybrid and would do justice to the series name.

The predecessor, the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione, was offered from 2007 to 2009 in a limited edition of 500 copies. The technical basis was the Maserati Coupé, the car was also built by Maserati. It was powered by a 4.7 liter Ferrari V8 engine with 450 hp and a maximum torque of 480 Nm. The first 8C of the 'modern times' was around 160,000 euros and ran to 100 km /h in 4.2 seconds, top speed was specified as 292 km /h. The first Alfa Romeo 8C, on the other hand, was built in various displacement versions from 1931 to the end of the decade and initially has a 2.4-liter eight-cylinder with 142 hp , later there was a 2.9 liter version.
